Kaare Wieneke grew up in Colesville, MD, and has been playing music in one capacity or another for most of his life, whether in high school bluegrass or rock bands, open mike blues jams, or as Quint's answer to Greg "Fingers" Taylor.
A defining moment in Kaare's musical career came in 1988 behind Joe's Record Paradise in Layhill, MD, where he had the good fortune to meet some musicians who were preparing to take the stage at a brand new music festival. Kaare so impressed them with his harmonica chops that they invited him to join them onstage. Moments later, Kaare found himself playing the blues with the legendary Bonnie Raitt and her band at the first-ever HFStival!
Kaare was referred to Captain Quint by fellow Chesapeake Parrothead Club member John Patti, Sr., and played his first gig with the band at the 2003 Booze Cruise. Since that time, he has been performing up and down the east coast and entertaining audiences with his fun loving personality and "anything goes" attitude.
Away from the band, Kaare is a carpentry contractor who also enjoys bird watching, hang gliding, mountain biking, and boating. In addition to the harp, Kaare enjoys playing acoustic guitar and writing songs.
